I think some have already heard that our dear fellow student Mitsuko will be turning 85 this Saturday the 11th. I spoke with Sifu about the possibility of celebrating her birthday after class this Saturday. Sifu suggested a pot-luck party at the park right after class. (He thought - and probably rightly - that Mitsuko would be more comfortable with that than with going to a restaurant and making that kind of a fuss.) If we each brought something to eat we'd have a nice feast. I know Ros is the ultimate cardmaker, but if you don't have the time Ros I could pick something up at Papyrus. I could also look for a nice Tai Chi or qigong book...
Please everyone let me know your thoughts on this. Hopefully we can plan something lovely for her.
(I hope other people check this blog more frequently than I have been doing of late!)
Looking forward to another great class and then a party this Saturday... :-)

I think that this is an outstanding idea!
I'll pick up some Japanese bottled iced tea, some Japanese snacks, and a couple of desserts (maybe Beard Papa's). If Simu's around, which she should be, then I'll ask her to deliver all of this at 9:30am. We'll have our class and then instead of advanced class, we'll have her celebration.
I'll leave the book & everything else to the rest of the group.
Post your thoughts and/or volunteer here, please.
I was thinking of making a fruit salad, but I can bring other things too -- depending on other peoples' responses...
Yay me too! Hopefully I'll be well by then, also... still struggling with whatever virus this is. Actually, I'll know by tomorrow if it's swine flu or not. Yucky!
Anyway.... if all is good, I'll be there... and would love to go book shopping for her, I think that's a cool idea.
What a wonderful idea!
I'll bring veggies and dip.
I make a good spread of eggs, scallions and (low fat) cream cheese. I will bring that with crackers.
Hmmm. Considering the food that's coming, perhaps we should have a breakfast celebration and THEN do our Tai-Chi form!
I have learned that I must attend a funeral Saturday morning. Therefore, I will not be attending the Saturday class or be there for Mitsuko's birthday celebration. I will still try to bring my dish at the start of the class. If I cannot, please give my best birthday wishes to Mitsuko.
